How do I contact the local IRS office?
Generally, local IRS offices do not allow you to speak with a live person. Most offer a voicemail system, that allows you to leave your message and request that someone in the office return your call.
Please note that while local IRS offices perform many functions, you can also call the the IRS Toll-Free National Contact Center for answers to nearly any tax-related inquiry. Representatives are available from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday Eastern Standard Time (EST).
